Frequently asked questions

What is the FQZ100540 internal release cable?
The FQZ100540 is a Bowden cable in the front door that connects the interior door handle to the latch. Pulling the inside handle acts through this cable to release the latch and open the door.
Which model does it fit?
It fits the front door of the Discovery 2 (1998 to 2004). Use your VIN to confirm the correct side and variant before ordering.
Why does the internal release cable fail?
These cables typically fail when the inner wire frays or the outer sheath seizes, leaving the interior handle unable to open the door. A door that only opens from outside is a common sign it has failed.
