Rear Door Latch is the lock latch mechanism that secures the rear door to the body.

Mounted in the trailing edge of the door, it engages the striker on the pillar to hold the door closed, and integrates the locking and release functions linked to the interior and exterior handles and the central locking actuator. It provides the primary and secondary catch positions that keep the door safely shut, and works with the child-lock function where fitted.

A worn or failed latch can cause the door to release unexpectedly, fail to lock, or refuse to close; replacement restores secure latching and correct locking operation.
