The optical core is a bi-xenon high-intensity discharge projector: a single gas-discharge burner produces both dipped and main beam, switched by a mechanical shutter inside the projector bowl. The assembly forms part of the Adaptive Front Lighting system, where an actuator swivels the projector module against steering angle and road speed so that the beam follows the line of a bend.

Discharge lighting also requires automatic beam-height correction, actuated by a levelling motor at the headlamp and driven from the vehicle's levelling sensors and lighting control module. The housing carries the direction indicator and position lamp alongside the projector, and discharge operation depends on the matching ballast and igniter that strike and regulate the arc.

Optics are configured for left-hand-drive vehicles, with the dipped beam biased towards the right-hand side of the road.
