What is the LR173164LR rear spoiler?
The LR173164LR is the Genuine Land Rover rear spoiler for the Discovery 5. It's a moulded exterior panel that mounts across the upper trailing edge of the tailgate, closing out the roofline and guiding airflow leaving the roof panel.
Does this spoiler fit every Discovery 5?
No. It's listed for Discovery 5 vehicles built at the Nitra plant from VIN (V)K2000001 onwards. Earlier Discovery 5 production used a different spoiler part, so check your VIN before ordering rather than going on the 2017-onwards model year alone.
Where exactly does the spoiler mount on a Discovery 5?
Across the top trailing edge of the tailgate on the Discovery 5, above the rear screen where the roof panel ends. It's the visible moulding that finishes the roofline into the tailgate glass, which is why damage to it shows clearly from behind and from the side.
Why would a Discovery 5 rear spoiler need replacing?
Usually cosmetic damage. Car park knocks, garage door contact and lacquer failure from UV exposure are the common reasons a Discovery 5 spoiler comes off. Because it's a separate moulded panel, it's renewed on its own without touching the tailgate skin.
