Water Connection - turbocharger coolant line for the 3.0L six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine (AJ20P6), part of the turbocharger lubrication and cooling circuit.

The connection carries engine coolant between the engine cooling circuit and the water-cooled bearing housing of the turbocharger. Coolant flow through the housing draws heat out of the bearing carrier while the engine is running, and continues to circulate by thermosiphon after shutdown - which is what keeps residual exhaust heat from coking the bearing oil once the engine stops.

Renew the sealing rings at the connection joints on refitting, then refill and bleed the cooling system.
