O-Ring - VVT Solenoid Cover, 47 mm, sealing the variable valve timing solenoid cover to the cylinder head on Ingenium engines - 2.0L AJ20P and AJ20D, and 1.5L AJ20P3.

The cover closes off the oil gallery that feeds the camshaft phaser control solenoids. This O-ring seals that joint against pressurised engine oil, so a hardened, flattened or split ring shows first as an external oil leak at the cylinder head and can allow a loss of control pressure at the phasers, with rough running and cam timing fault codes following.

The ring is a single-use item and should be renewed whenever the solenoid cover is disturbed. Fit it into a clean, undamaged groove and avoid stretching it over sharp edges during assembly.
