Water Connection for the turbocharger coolant feed, lower position, in the turbocharger lubrication and cooling circuit of the 3.0L AJ20P6 Ingenium petrol engine, including PHEV applications.

The connection forms the lower leg of the coolant feed between the engine coolant gallery and the turbocharger. The turbocharger bearing housing is water-cooled to hold bearing temperature down under load and to carry heat away after shutdown, which is what prevents the residual oil in the bearing housing from coking.

Fitting note: the O-ring must be lubricated with clean water before installation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the turbo coolant feed water connection for?
The water connection forms the lower leg of the turbocharger coolant feed on the 3.0L AJ20P6 Ingenium petrol engine. It carries coolant between the engine gallery and the turbocharger, whose bearing housing is water-cooled to hold bearing temperature down under load and carry heat away after shutdown.
Which Land Rover models use this lower turbo coolant connection?
This connection fits the 3.0L AJ20P6 petrol Discovery 5, New Defender L663, Range Rover L460, Range Rover Sport L461 and Range Rover Velar, including PHEV petrol on the L460 and L461. It's a Genuine Land Rover part, number LR183050LR.
How is the O-ring fitted on this connection?
Lubricate the O-ring with clean water before installation, as specified for this connection. That helps the seal slide home without rolling or nipping as the joint is pushed together. Fit it to a clean spigot so the O-ring seats squarely.
Why does the turbocharger need a coolant feed?
The turbocharger bearing housing is water-cooled to keep bearing temperature down under load and to carry heat away after the engine shuts down. That after-run cooling is what stops residual oil in the bearing housing from coking. A leaking feed connection risks coolant loss and turbo bearing heat damage.
How do I confirm this coolant connection fits my vehicle?
Check your engine is the 3.0L AJ20P6 petrol, then confirm the build break for your model. Examples include VIN break R2479779 on Discovery 5 and P2202392 on New Defender. Use your VIN to verify, since these connections are specific to the AJ20P6 cooling layout.
