Brand Intermotor
Distributor Cap for the distributor-based ignition system. The cap closes the top of the distributor and carries the high-tension current from the central coil terminal, via the rotor arm, out to the individual plug-lead terminals so each spark plug fires in turn.

It is moulded with side and top vents that disperse the ozone and moisture generated by the internal spark, and locates positively on the distributor body to maintain correct rotor-to-segment clearance.

Frequently asked questions

What does the distributor cap do?
The distributor cap closes off the top of the distributor and carries the high tension spark from the coil, through the rotor arm, out to each spark plug in firing order. It keeps moisture and dirt away from the internal contacts while the engine runs.
How many distributor caps are needed for a service?
Just one. A single distributor cap covers the whole ignition system, and it's usually replaced together with the rotor arm and HT leads as a set during a full ignition service.
Is fitting a distributor cap a DIY job?
Yes, fitting a distributor cap is a straightforward DIY task. It unclips or unscrews from the distributor body, and the rotor arm and HT leads should be transferred across or replaced at the same time to keep the firing order correct.
