Upper Engine Mounting - component of the powertrain mounting system, forming the upper support point between the engine and the body structure.
The mounting carries part of the engine's weight at its upper location and isolates combustion and driveline vibration from the bodyshell, while limiting engine movement under acceleration, braking and gear changes. A deteriorated rubber element typically shows as increased vibration in the cabin, a knock on take-up, or excessive engine rock at idle.
Used on 2.0L TIVCT petrol, 3.2L I6 petrol, 2.2L CR DI diesel and 2.0L Ingenium petrol and diesel applications. Also referred to as the engine support insulator.
