Crankcase Breather Pipe for the 3.0L V6 diesel, part of the crankcase ventilation circuit within the engine emission control system.

The pipe connects to the top of the oil separator and carries crankcase blow-by gases through the ventilation circuit, so that separated oil drains back to the sump and the remaining gases are returned to the intake rather than vented.

Breather pipework in this position sits in engine heat and oil vapour and hardens with age. A split pipe or a perished connection admits unmetered air into the system and can disturb running, so inspect the full length and both connections when fitting.
