Oil Separator is the crankcase ventilation (PCV) oil separator for the 2.0L 16V turbocharged petrol engine.

It sits in the crankcase breather circuit and removes oil mist from the blow-by gases drawn out of the crankcase, returning the separated oil to the sump while the cleaned gases pass back to the intake for combustion. Effective separation protects the intake tract and turbocharger from oil carry-over.

What are the signs the oil separator has failed?
A failed oil separator usually causes oil in the intake, rough idle, whistling, or high oil use on the 2.0L petrol engine. A split diaphragm or cracked housing is common, so it's replaced as a unit.
Does this fit diesel engines?
No. It fits 2.0L GTDi/TiVCT turbo petrol (240PS Si4 and Gen2) only, per the fitment note. SAP lists Discovery Sport L550, Freelander 2, Range Rover L405, Range Rover Sport L494 and Evoque L538. It does not fit diesel.
