Vacuum Pump for the 2.0L 16-valve petrol (Ingenium / GTDI) engine.

The pump supplies the vacuum used by the brake booster (servo) and other vacuum-operated controls. Turbocharged direct-injection petrol engines generate little manifold vacuum, so a dedicated vacuum pump is fitted to provide it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the vacuum pump and what does it do?
The vacuum pump on the 2.0L petrol (Ingenium / GTDI) engine supplies the vacuum used by the brake booster and other vacuum-operated controls. Turbocharged direct-injection petrol engines make little manifold vacuum, so a dedicated pump provides it.
Which vehicles take this 2.0L petrol vacuum pump?
It fits the 2.0L petrol (GTDI/Ingenium) in the Discovery Sport (2015+), Freelander 2 (2006-2014, from VIN CH313951), Range Rover L405 (2013-2022), Range Rover Sport L494 (2014-2022) and Range Rover Evoque L538 (2012-2018).
What are the signs a vacuum pump is failing?
A failing vacuum pump typically shows as a hard brake pedal, since the brake booster loses its vacuum supply. You might also hear a whir or notice oil leaks from the pump. On these turbo petrol engines the pump is the main vacuum source.
