Valve stem seal for the cylinder head valve train.

The seal locates on the valve guide and wipes the valve stem as it reciprocates, metering the small quantity of oil needed to lubricate the guide while keeping oil out of the port. A hardened or split sealing lip lets oil past the guide, showing as blue exhaust smoke on start-up and after overrun and as carbon build-up on the valve head and seat.

Applies to the Ingenium petrol engine range (AJ200 and AJ20). Stem seals are renewed as a complete set whenever the cylinder head is dismantled.
