Alternator Pulley - overrunning pulley with an integral one-way clutch, part of the auxiliary drive on the 2.2L TD4 (DW12) diesel engine.
Driven by the auxiliary drive belt, it transmits drive to the alternator rotor shaft. The built-in freewheel clutch allows the alternator to keep turning when the crankshaft decelerates sharply, decoupling the alternator's rotating mass from the belt. A worn pulley shows up as belt rattle or vibration at idle and on overrun, and shortens belt and tensioner life.
