Brake Pad Set is a set of front disc brake friction pads for the front-axle braking assembly.

The pads locate in the front brake calipers and are clamped against the brake disc to generate the friction that slows the wheel. Supplied as an axle set covering both front wheels, and best renewed as a complete set with the discs inspected at the same time.

Fitting new caliper guide pins with the pads is recommended; the manufacturer's fitting notes also list lining set SEE100340 for use with them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LR021899 front brake pad set and what does it do?
The LR021899 is a front axle brake pad set for the Land Rover Freelander 1 (1996-2006). The pads sit in the front calipers and clamp against the brake discs to slow the front wheels. It's supplied as an axle set covering both front wheels.
Is this enough for both front wheels?
Yes, the LR021899 is supplied as a complete front axle set, covering both front wheels of the Freelander 1. Brake pads are fitted as an axle set rather than on one wheel, so a single kit covers the full front axle.
Do I need anything else when fitting these brake pads?
Fitting new caliper guide pins with these brake pads is recommended on the Freelander 1. Worn or seized guide pins stop the pads sliding evenly, causing uneven wear and poor braking. Check the discs at the same time, as pads and discs typically wear together.
What are the signs the front brake pads need replacing?
Front brake pads on the Freelander 1 typically need replacing when you hear squealing or grinding, feel reduced braking, or notice the wear indicator. Worn pads reduce stopping power and can damage the discs if left too long. Inspect pad thickness during routine servicing.
