Brake Pad Set is a set of front disc brake friction pads for the front-axle braking assembly.

The pads locate in the front brake calipers and are clamped against the brake disc to generate the friction that slows the wheel. Supplied as an axle set covering both front wheels, and best renewed as a complete set with the discs inspected at the same time.

Fitting new caliper guide pins with the pads is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LR021899M front brake pad set?
The LR021899M is a front axle brake pad set for the Land Rover Freelander 1 (1996-2006). The pads sit in the front calipers and are clamped onto the brake discs to slow the front wheels. It's supplied as a full axle set for both front corners.
Do these front brake pads need new guide pins?
New caliper guide pins are recommended when fitting the LR021899M pads to the Freelander 1. Guide pins that have seized stop the pads sliding squarely against the disc, which leads to uneven wear and reduced braking. Check the discs while the calipers are apart.
When should the front brake pads be replaced?
Front brake pads on the Freelander 1 should be replaced when they show squealing, grinding, vibration under braking, or visibly thin friction material. Worn pads lengthen stopping distances and can ruin the discs. Inspect pad thickness at each service and replace as an axle set.
