Exhaust Camshaft Sprocket for the valve timing drive on the 2.0L 16V TIVCT turbo petrol engine.

Mounted on the exhaust camshaft, it is driven by the timing chain to turn the camshaft in time with the crankshaft. On this TIVCT (twin independent variable camshaft timing) engine it forms part of the variable valve timing drive for the exhaust cam.

Frequently asked questions

What does the exhaust camshaft sprocket do?
The exhaust camshaft sprocket drives the exhaust camshaft from the timing chain, keeping valve timing in sync with the crankshaft. On the 2.0L 16V TIVCT turbo petrol engine (Si4) it's part of the twin independent variable cam timing system.
Which vehicles and engine does this sprocket fit?
This sprocket fits the 2.0L Si4 turbo petrol engine in the Freelander 2, Range Rover Evoque L538, Discovery Sport, Range Rover L405 and Range Rover Sport L494. Confirm your engine is the 2.0L TIVCT petrol before ordering, as diesel and other petrol units use different sprockets.
When does an exhaust camshaft sprocket need replacing?
Typically the exhaust camshaft sprocket is renewed during timing chain service or if the variable timing system develops a fault or rattle. Wear in the sprocket teeth or the phaser can upset cam timing, so it's usually replaced alongside the chain on the 2.0L Si4 petrol.
