Camshaft Sprocket A component of the timing gear that transmits drive from the timing chain to the camshaft, keeping valve operation synchronised with crankshaft rotation.

The sprocket's teeth mesh with the timing chain and locate the camshaft to the engine's timing marks, so the inlet and exhaust valves open and close at the correct point in each cycle. Fitted to the 2.0L 16-valve turbocharged petrol engine (AJ200).

Correct sprocket condition and installation are essential to maintaining valve timing; wear or incorrect fitting can advance or retard the timing and affect engine running.
