Engine Oil Pan - the sump casing that closes the bottom of the cylinder block on the 2.2L 16V common-rail diesel (DW12) and forms the engine's oil reservoir.

It holds the oil charge between drain intervals, feeds the oil pump pick-up, carries the drain plug boss and acts as a heat-rejection surface for the oil.

Damage is normally mechanical: an impact on the sump face, a stripped or over-torqued drain plug thread, or corrosion around the sealing flange. Clean both mating faces back to bare metal, apply a continuous bead of the specified sealant and tighten the fasteners in the prescribed sequence and torque. Renew the drain plug sealing washer at the same time.
