Brand Autotec Components
Engine coolant temperature sensor for the engine management system on the 1.8L K Series 4-cylinder petrol engine.

The sensor is a thermistor that threads into the coolant circuit and reports coolant temperature to the engine control unit, which uses the signal to set cold-start enrichment, warm-up fuelling, ignition timing and cooling fan operation.

A sensor that has drifted or gone open-circuit typically shows up as hard cold starting, poor fuel economy, a cooling fan that runs constantly or not at all, and a stored temperature-circuit fault code.

Frequently asked questions

What does the MEK000030 coolant temperature sensor do?
The MEK000030 engine coolant temperature sensor measures coolant temperature and signals it to the ECU on the Freelander 1 1.8L K Series petrol engine. The ECU uses that reading to adjust fuelling, the cooling fan, and the temperature gauge.
Where is the coolant temperature sensor located on the K Series engine?
The coolant temperature sensor typically threads into the coolant outlet or thermostat housing on the Freelander 1 1.8L K Series engine, where it sits in the coolant flow. Exact position varies, so trace the wiring from the connector to find it.
Which Freelander does the MEK000030 fit?
The MEK000030 fits the Land Rover Freelander 1 1996-2006 with the 1.8L K Series 4-cylinder petrol engine. It's an OEM sensor from Autotec Components matched to that application. Confirm your engine is the 1.8 K Series before ordering.
