Lambda (Oxygen) Sensor for the pre-catalyst position in the exhaust system of the 1.8L 4-cylinder K Series petrol engine.
Installed upstream of the catalytic converter, the sensor measures residual oxygen in the exhaust gas and provides the feedback signal the engine management ECU uses to hold the air/fuel mixture at stoichiometric under closed-loop control. Because this is the controlling sensor rather than a monitoring sensor, deterioration shows up directly as raised fuel consumption, unstable idle and catalyst efficiency fault codes.

Apply anti-seize compound to the sensor thread only when fitting, and keep the sensor tip free of grease and other contamination.
