Air Mass Meter for the 2.0L 4-cylinder 8-valve turbo diesel engine, mounted in the intake air path between the air cleaner and the turbocharger inlet.

It measures the mass of air entering the engine and supplies that signal to the diesel engine management ECU, which uses it to set injection quantity, control exhaust gas recirculation and limit smoke under load. A degraded meter typically causes reduced power, uneven running under acceleration and EGR-related fault codes.

The sensing element is sensitive to oil mist and dust; the air filter element and intake ducting should be checked for contamination whenever a meter is replaced.
