Inlet air temperature sensor for the air intake system, located in the inlet manifold to measure the temperature of the air charge entering the engine.
The sensor is a thermistor: its resistance falls as intake air temperature rises, and the engine control module reads that signal to correct fuelling and ignition timing for air density. A sensor that has drifted or gone open-circuit typically shows up as poor cold starting, rough running or raised fuel consumption, and will usually log an intake air temperature fault code.
Used on 2.0L T-Series and 1.8L K-Series four-cylinder petrol engines.
