Bleed Hose is a small-bore coolant hose within the expansion tank and hose assembly of the engine cooling system.
It vents air from the high point of the cooling circuit back to the expansion tank, allowing the system to bleed itself as it fills and preventing the air locks that cause localised overheating. Perishing at the moulded ends is the usual failure, showing as a slow coolant loss and an unstable level in the tank.
