Ancillary drive belt guard - protective guard fitted at the auxiliary drive belt, in the water pump and alternator pulley area.
It shields the belt run and pulley faces from road debris and water thrown up behind the front of the engine. Used on diesel applications only: the Td4 2.0L M47 four-cylinder and the BMW-sourced six-cylinder diesel installation. The guard is a routine removal when renewing the ancillary drive belt, water pump or alternator.
