Front Brake Hose - flexible hose in the front hydraulic brake circuit, connecting the rigid brake pipe on the body to the front brake caliper.

Reinforced rubber construction contains full system pressure while allowing the hose to follow both steering and suspension movement without kinking or fouling adjacent components. The crimped end fittings mate to the rigid pipe union and to the caliper inlet.

Replace if the outer cover is cracked, chafed or perished, if the end fittings are corroded, or if the hose swells under pedal pressure - each of which produces a soft pedal and reduced braking efficiency. The circuit must be bled after fitting.

Frequently asked questions

What is this front brake hose and what does it do?
This front brake hose is the flexible link in the front hydraulic circuit of the Freelander 1, connecting the rigid brake pipe on the body to the front caliper. Its reinforced rubber build holds full pressure while following steering and suspension movement without kinking.
When should the front brake hose be replaced?
Replace the front brake hose if the cover is cracked, chafed or perished, if the fittings are corroded, or if it swells under pedal pressure. Each of these gives a soft pedal and weaker braking. Bleed the circuit once the new hose is fitted.
Can this be fitted at home?
Fitting typically calls for basic spanners, fresh brake fluid and a bleed kit, with the front circuit bled afterwards to clear any air. It is within reach of a competent home mechanic, but test the brakes before driving.
How do I confirm this hose fits my Freelander 1?
This front hose fits the Freelander 1 up to VIN YA999999. Confirm your VIN against the fitment note before ordering, since later Freelander 1 cars can use different brake hoses.
