Brand Autotec Components
Front ABS wheel speed sensor, part of the four-wheel WABCO anti-lock braking system's sensing circuit. Catalogued under a sensor kit part number; the assembly is the speed sensor with its integral lead and connector.

The sensor locates in the front hub carrier and reads the toothed exciter ring on the hub, supplying the wheel speed signal the ABS control module uses to detect impending wheel lock and modulate brake pressure at that wheel.

One sensor is fitted at each front wheel. The sensor tip and its seat in the carrier should be cleaned of corrosion and debris before a new unit is fitted.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (SSW100080A) and what does it do?
The SSW100080A is the front ABS wheel speed sensor for the Freelander 1 (1996-2006). It reads front wheel rotation and feeds the WABCO 4-wheel ABS system, which uses the signal for anti-lock braking and traction control.
Where is the front ABS wheel speed sensor located?
The front ABS wheel speed sensor mounts at the front wheel hub on the Freelander 1, reading a toothed ring to measure wheel speed for the ABS ECU. One sensor is fitted per front wheel.
What are the signs the ABS wheel speed sensor needs replacing?
A failing front ABS sensor usually triggers the ABS warning light, loss of ABS or traction control, and a stored fault code for that front wheel. Corrosion and cable damage at the hub are typical causes on the Freelander 1.
Does this fit all Freelander 1 models?
This front ABS sensor fits Freelander 1 from VIN 1A000001 with the WABCO 4-wheel ABS system. Confirm your car has 4-wheel ABS and check the VIN before ordering.
