Hill Descent Control Switch - push-push switch mounted in the clutch (bell) housing, forming part of the Hill Descent Control input circuit.
The switch is operated by the gear selector mechanism and reports first-gear selection to the Hill Descent Control system, which uses this input as one of the conditions for engaging HDC on a steep descent. A failed or contaminated switch typically prevents HDC from activating, or leaves the HDC warning lamp illuminated.
Manual transmission applications.
