EGR Pipe Gasket - sealing gasket for the joint between the exhaust gas recirculation pipe and the inlet manifold on the 2.0L L Series diesel engine.

The EGR circuit returns a metered flow of exhaust gas into the inlet tract to lower peak combustion temperature and reduce oxides of nitrogen. This gasket seals the flange where the recirculation pipe meets the inlet manifold, a joint that has to hold against both inlet tract pressure pulses and the hot, soot-laden gas passing through it.

Renew the gasket whenever the EGR pipe or valve is disturbed; a leak at this face vents exhaust gas into the engine bay and upsets inlet metering.

What is the EGR pipe gasket for?
The EGR pipe gasket seals the joint between the exhaust gas recirculation pipe and the inlet manifold on the Freelander 1 2.0L L Series diesel. It keeps the EGR circuit gas-tight where recirculated exhaust gas rejoins the inlet tract to lower combustion temperature and NOx.

This gasket fits the Freelander 1 2.0L L Series diesel up to VIN VA999999. The later Td4 BMW diesel uses a different EGR arrangement, so check your engine is the L Series and your VIN falls below that break before ordering.
