Gear Selector Lever - lever that clamps to the manual selector shaft on the six-speed ZF automatic transmission, forming the gearbox end of the floor shift linkage.
The selector cable from the floor-mounted shift lever connects to this arm, which rotates the selector shaft to set the transmission to Park, Reverse, Neutral or Drive and positions the transmission range sensor with it. Wear in the lever or its pivot bush lets the shaft fall short of each detent, which shows up as a selected range that does not match the display, a vehicle that will not crank in Park or Neutral, or a park lock that will not engage cleanly.
Inspect the pivot bush and the cable end fitting whenever the lever is replaced, and check that the linkage is adjusted so every gate position lands squarely in its detent before the vehicle is driven.
