Output Shaft Oil Seal from the external components of the ZF 9HP48 / 9HP50 nine-speed automatic transmission.

The seal fits around the gearbox output shaft where it passes out through the transmission housing, running on the shaft or output flange sealing surface to retain automatic transmission fluid and to keep water and road dirt out of the case.

It is a routine renewal item whenever the output shaft or driveshaft flange is disturbed, and should be fitted if fluid weeping is found at the output shaft during transmission service.
