Gear Change Cable for the ZF 6-speed automatic transmission, connecting the floor selector lever to the gearbox selector shaft.

The cable transmits selector-lever movement to the transmission's manual valve lever, setting the valve position that determines the selected range. Correct length adjustment at the cable ends is what keeps the lever detents aligned with the gearbox positions; a stretched, seized or internally corroded cable produces vague selection, a displayed gear that disagrees with the lever, or failure to engage a range at all.

The cable and the selector lever pivot bush at its upper end wear together, and are best inspected as a pair - the companion pivot bush is TZT500040.
