Hex Nut is an M8 copper flanged-head nut used on the exhaust manifold.

The flanged head spreads the clamping load and removes the need for a separate washer, while the copper construction resists seizing and corrosion at the high temperatures seen at the manifold studs, so the joint can be undone again at service. It threads onto the manifold studs to clamp the manifold and its downpipe joint in place.

Frequently asked questions

What is this Hex Nut used for?
It's an M8 copper flanged-head nut used on the exhaust manifold, threading onto the manifold studs to clamp the manifold and its downpipe joint in place.
Why is this nut made from copper instead of steel?
The copper construction resists seizing and corrosion at the high temperatures found at the manifold studs, so the joint can still be undone at a later service instead of shearing the stud.
What does the flanged head do?
The flanged head spreads the clamping load across a wider area and removes the need for a separate washer, simplifying the manifold joint.
Which models does this nut fit?
It's used on the Land Rover Freelander 1 and Range Rover P38 exhaust manifolds.
