Brake Master Cylinder - ABS is the tandem master cylinder at the head of the hydraulic braking circuit, specified for the servo-assisted anti-lock braking installation.
It bolts to the face of the vacuum servo and converts servo-assisted pedal effort into hydraulic pressure, feeding two independent circuits so that a leak in one still leaves braking on the other. The fluid reservoir mounts directly on top of the cylinder body.
The anti-lock specification is not interchangeable with the non-ABS cylinder. Replacement is indicated by a pedal that sinks slowly under steady foot pressure with no external leak, or by fluid loss at the rear of the cylinder where it meets the servo.
Bleed the complete system after fitting, and bench-bleed the cylinder first where access allows.
