Many titles name the engine, such as the 2.25 litre, 200Tdi, 300Tdi, Td5, V8, TDV6 and 2.0 Ingenium, and give the size as labelled, so check the engine, the size as labelled and the part number before ordering. Crankshaft pulleys, dampers and timing chains are in a separate collection, linked further down this page.

View full detailsThis collection covers pistons and piston assemblies, piston rings and ring sets, main, crankshaft and big end bearings, thrust bearings and washers, con rods with their bolts, nuts and bushes, a gudgeon pin and small end bushes, cylinder liners and piston cooling parts for Land Rover engines. A small number of related engine parts sit here too.
It is one of the subcategories of Land Rover engine parts, where many crankshaft oil seals and further con rod and main bearing cap bolts are listed. Crankshaft pulleys, dampers and timing chains are in Land Rover belts, chains and pulleys.
PISTONSPistons and piston assemblies are listed for engines including the 2.25 litre petrol and diesel, the 2.5 litre petrol, non-turbo diesel and turbo diesel, the 200Tdi, 300Tdi and Td5, the V8 in 3.5, 4.0 and 4.6 litre titles, the 2.7 and 3.0 TDV6, the 4.4 TDV8, the 3.0 M57, the 5.0 litre, both naturally aspirated (titled N/A) and supercharged, the 1.8 K-Series, the 2.2 litre diesel and the 2.0 litre petrol, with further pistons titled 204DTD and AJ200.
Titles separate a piston on its own from an assembly, such as Piston and Pin Assembly, Piston and Ring Assembly, Less Rings or Less Connecting Rod, so check what each listing includes. Sizes are given as labelled, such as Standard or a stated step, and some V8 titles add the compression, such as High Compression.
PISTON RINGSPiston rings are listed as sets and kits for engines including the 2.25 litre petrol and diesel, the 2.5 litre non-turbo and turbo diesel, the 200Tdi, 300Tdi and Td5, the 3.5 and 3.9 V8, the 2.7 TDV6 and other TDV6 titles, the 4.4 TDV8, the 4.4 litre V8, the 5.0 V8, the 2.5 KV6 and the 2.0 litre diesel. Many ring sets are titled Per Piston, so check the quantity before ordering for a whole engine.
BEARINGSMain bearing sets and crankshaft bearings are listed for engines including the 2.25 litre, including titles marked 2.25 3-Bearing, the 2.5 litre, the TDi, the Td5, the V8, among them 4.0 litre titles, and the 2.4 TDCi, alongside crankshaft thrust bearings and thrust washers. Main bearing cap bolts are titled for the Td5 and the V8, together with a V8 crankshaft bolt.
Con rod and big end bearings are listed as sets and as halves for engines including the 2.25 litre petrol, the 2.5 litre, the 2.6 litre, the Td5, the V8 and the 2.2 litre.
Bearing titles give the size as labelled, such as Standard or a stated step, so match the title and the part number.
CON RODSCon rods and con rod assemblies are titled for engines including the 2.25 litre diesel, the 200Tdi and 300Tdi, the 2.7 TDV6 and the 2.0 litre Ingenium in 180 HP and 240 HP versions, with a con rod assembly titled 3.0L and a con rod kit titled 2.2L Diesel.
Con rod bolts are titled for engines including the Td5, the V8, the 2.4 TDCi and the 2.7 TDV6, and con rod nuts are listed too. Further con rod bolts and main bearing cap bolts are listed under Land Rover engine parts.
Con rod bushes are titled for the 200Tdi (small end), 300Tdi, Td5 and 2.7 TDV6, together with a gudgeon pin and a small end bush, and a gudgeon pin bush titled Petrol.
LINERS AND COOLING JETSCylinder liners are listed, including one titled Standard and one titled 2.0d Liners (Top Hat). A piston cooling jet, a piston cooling nozzle, an oil jet and a piston oil cooling valve are listed too, two of them titled by cylinder: Cylinders 1 & 3 and No.2 and No.4 Cylinder.
The range also holds other engine parts, such as a crankshaft assembly titled for the 300Tdi, a balance shaft and an engine overhaul kit titled for the 2.25 litre diesel. Check each listing for what is included.
BUYING GUIDEGenuine pistons and bearings carry the Land Rover part number. OEM pistons and bearings come from original-equipment manufacturers. Aftermarket also covers value and off-road brands.
Budget Parts lists Genuine, OEM and aftermarket options in this collection. The available quality tier varies by part, so check the individual product listing when comparing options.
Single part, set or kit. Bearings are listed as halves and as sets, piston rings as sets per piston and as kits, and pistons on their own or as assemblies. Read the title to see what you are ordering.
BEFORE YOU ORDERParts here are listed for the Land Rover Series, Land Rover Defender, Land Rover Discovery, Land Rover Freelander and Range Rover families, from pistons titled for the 2.25 litre engine to con rods titled for the 2.0 litre Ingenium. For older models covered by the catalogues, use the Land Rover parts catalogues to help identify the correct part number before ordering.
It explains why Series I piston rings and other engine parts are ordered by engine displacement.
Land Rover Series I engine, chassis and restoration guideStart with the engine, then the part number. Many titles name the engine, such as the 300Tdi, Td5 or V8, and others do not, so check the part number. Quote the full VIN or chassis number, and the engine number where you have it, with any fitment enquiry. The VIN helps check production changes against your vehicle, but some engine parts changed by engine number instead.
It depends on the listing. Many ring sets are titled Per Piston, such as ring sets for the V8 and the 2.25 litre petrol, so one set covers one piston. Check the title and the quantity before ordering.
Where a listing includes a size or step, it is shown as labelled, such as Standard or a stated step. Order the specification your engine or rebuild requires. If you are not sure which specification applies, confirm it with your engine builder before ordering.
Genuine pistons and bearings carry the Land Rover part number. OEM pistons and bearings come from original-equipment manufacturers. Aftermarket also covers value and off-road brands.
Crankshaft pulleys and dampers are listed in Land Rover belts, chains and pulleys, and many crankshaft oil seals are listed under Land Rover engine parts with the other engine seals.
