The spare wheel system

A complete spare setup is more than the wheel. Most Land Rover models carry the spare on the rear door or tailgate, which needs a carrier or mounting bracket rated for the weight, while some Discovery and Range Rover models stow it under the load floor on a winch. Spare wheel covers protect the spare and tidy the look, and they are sized to the wheel and tyre diameter, so a cover that suits a 16 inch wheel will not fit a larger one. Check the diameter of your spare before choosing a cover.

Confirming the right wheel

Work from your hub and your existing wheels. You need the stud count and stud pattern, the wheel diameter and width, and the offset, which sets how far the wheel sits in or out. If you are keeping your current tyres, match the wheel size to them as well. For a spare wheel cover or carrier, the wheel and tyre diameter and the mounting point on your vehicle decide the fit. When in doubt, match the new part to what is already on the vehicle.
