Spire Nut is a spring-steel captive fastener that clips over a panel edge or into a pierced hole to provide a threaded anchor point for a screw.

Threaded 1/4" UNF. The sprung arms grip the panel and resist vibration loosening, giving a repeatable fixing where a conventional nut cannot be held from behind - typically used to secure body trim, panels and brackets.

Frequently asked questions

What is a spire nut and what does it do?
A spire nut is a spring-steel captive fastener that clips over a panel edge or into a pierced hole to give a threaded anchor for a screw. This one is threaded 1/4-inch UNF. The sprung arms grip the panel and resist vibration loosening.
Where is a 1/4-inch UNF spire nut typically used?
A 1/4-inch UNF spire nut is typically used to secure body trim, panels and brackets where a conventional nut can't be held from behind. It gives a repeatable threaded fixing on classic Land Rover bodywork, and the clip-on design means no rear access is needed.
How many spire nuts will I need?
Spire nuts are usually fitted individually, with the quantity depending on how many fixing points your panel or trim uses. It's common to replace all the spire nuts in a repair area at once, since the spring steel can fatigue and lose grip over time.
