Tail Silencer Box - the rear-most silencer in the exhaust system, sitting downstream of the intermediate pipe and carrying the tailpipe outlet.
It attenuates the remaining exhaust noise through internal baffling before the gas leaves the tailpipe, and is carried on rubber mountings so that exhaust movement and vibration are isolated from the body.
Being the coolest section of the system, the rear box collects condensate from the exhaust gas, which is why it is usually the first part of the system to corrode through from the inside.
