U-bolt for the rear leaf spring to axle mounting.
The U-bolt passes around the axle casing and through the spring seat plate, clamping the leaf spring pack to the axle and holding the spring centre bolt located in its seat. Four U-bolts are used per axle, two at each spring.
U-bolts stretch in service and are best renewed whenever the springs or axle are disturbed. Tighten evenly and diagonally to the specified torque with the suspension at normal ride height.
