Ignition Switch - the electrical switch unit of the ignition and starting circuit, for diesel applications on steering columns without an integral column lock.
The switch carries the diesel switching sequence - off, accessory, heat, start - so that the heater-plug circuit is energised before the starter is engaged. Mounted behind the facia or column panel, it distributes the battery supply to the ignition, heater and starter circuits as the key is turned.
