Connecting rod bearing set - the big-end shells of the 2.25L four-cylinder engine, running between the connecting rod big-end eyes and the crankshaft crankpins.
Each shell pair is clamped between the rod and its cap and is fed pressurised oil through the crankshaft drillings from the main bearings. The shells set the big-end running clearance and therefore the oil film that carries the combustion load from the piston into the crankshaft.
Supplied at 0.040in service size, to suit crankpins reground from standard, and sold as an engine set.
