Engine Mounting Rubber (V8) supports the V8 petrol engine on the chassis and isolates its vibration from the bodyshell.
The bonded rubber-to-metal mounting carries the engine's weight and reacts its torque loads while damping vibration and reducing noise transmitted into the vehicle. The same mounting design is used at both engine positions, and on manual transmission installations it also serves as the gearbox mounting.
When the rubber perishes, cracks or collapses, engine movement and driveline vibration increase, and the mounting is renewed.
