Oil Filter and Cooler Assembly for the 3.0L V6 turbo diesel - the combined oil filter housing and engine oil cooler, mounted to the cylinder block as a single unit.

Engine oil delivered by the pump passes through the full-flow filter element carried in the housing and then across the oil-to-coolant heat exchanger, where coolant taken from the engine cooling circuit removes heat before the oil returns to the main gallery. Oil temperature control matters on this engine because oil viscosity, and with it the hydraulic pressure available at the bearings and the timing chain tensioner, falls away as the oil heats.

Supplied as a complete assembly. Renew the housing seals on refitting, and refill and bleed the cooling system once installed.
