Air Filter from the engine air intake system, seated in the airbox between the intake duct and the induction tract.

Traps airborne dust and debris drawn in through the intake, protecting the airflow sensor, the forced induction components and the cylinder bores from abrasive wear while passing the volume of air the engine demands. A contaminated element raises intake restriction and can disturb airflow metering and running quality, so it is renewed at the scheduled service interval rather than cleaned.

Supplied as a single element. 2.0L four-cylinder and 3.0L six-cylinder Ingenium petrol and diesel applications use one element; 5.0L V8 petrol applications use two per vehicle.
