EGR Cooler Filter - filter element fitted within the exhaust gas recirculation cooler assembly of the 3.0L V6 diesel Gen2 engine.

Recirculated exhaust gas passes through the element, which traps soot and particulate matter so it cannot accumulate on the cooler matrix or carry through to the EGR valve. Keeping the element clear preserves the designed EGR flow rate, and with it the combustion temperatures and emissions behaviour that depend on that flow.

This is a serviceable element: it should be inspected whenever the EGR cooler is disturbed and renewed if found restricted or heavily fouled.
