Air Filter is the engine intake air filter element, carried in the air cleaner housing upstream of the turbocharger inlet.

It traps dust, grit and airborne debris before they reach the intake tract, protecting the compressor wheel, the intake valves and the cylinder bores from abrasive wear, while presenting as little restriction as possible so the engine breathes freely and the induction air metering stays accurate.

A clogged element raises intake depression and can show as reduced power, higher fuel consumption or an air-flow related fault code. Renew at the service interval, and more often where the vehicle is used in dusty conditions.
