Which vehicles use this 4.4L V8 oil filter kit?
The Defender L663 from 2020, Range Rover L460 from 2022 and Range Rover Sport L461 from 2023, all with the 4.4L V8 turbo petrol NC11 engine. It's engine-specific, so the same models fitted with a 3.0L Ingenium six take a different filter kit.
Why does the kit include a drain plug?
The oil cover drain plug is included because the NC11 V8 uses a cartridge filter in a housing that drains before removal. The plug seal is disturbed every service, so replacing it alongside the filter element keeps the housing sealed and avoids a slow weep afterwards.
When should the oil filter element be changed?
Change the filter element every time the engine oil is changed on the 4.4L V8. Consult your vehicle's service schedule for the interval. Reusing an old element with fresh oil pushes accumulated debris straight back into the new oil.
