Spark Plug for V12 petrol engines, part of the ignition system.
The plug threads into the cylinder head and seals the combustion chamber, delivering the ignition spark across its electrode gap to ignite the compressed air/fuel charge. High-tension voltage reaches the plug from the ignition coil through the HT lead, and the plug's heat range, thread reach and seat design are matched to the cylinder head and combustion chamber it serves.
Electrode wear widens the gap over service life, which raises the voltage required to strike the spark and shows up as misfire or hard starting. Replacement is normally carried out as a complete set across all cylinders so ignition performance stays even between the two banks.
