Track Rod End - outer ball joint in the steering linkage, connecting the track rod to the steering arm on the knuckle.

The joint transfers steering input from the rack to the road wheel while allowing for suspension travel and steering angle. It is a sealed ball-and-socket assembly; wear shows as free play at the steering wheel, feathered or uneven tyre wear, and knocking over rough surfaces.

Supplied individually; two are fitted per vehicle. Wheel alignment must be checked and reset after replacement.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Outer Track Rod End for?
The Outer Track Rod End connects the steering linkage to the front hub on the Range Rover L322 (2002-2012). It's a Lemforder OEM ball joint that transfers steering movement to the wheel and allows the joint to pivot as the suspension moves.
How many track rod ends does the L322 need?
Two outer track rod ends are needed per vehicle, one per side, on the Range Rover L322 from VIN 7A000001. It's cross-referenced as TIQ000030. Replacing them in pairs is common practice so both sides wear evenly.
What are the signs of a worn track rod end?
A worn track rod end typically causes steering play, a knocking over bumps, vague steering and uneven front tyre wear. The ball joint develops slack as it wears. Because it's a steering joint, have the tracking checked and reset after replacement.
What's the difference between the outer track rod end and the inner tie rod?
The outer track rod end connects to the steering knuckle at the wheel, while the inner tie rod screws into the steering rack. This is the outer joint. If your play is at the rack end rather than the wheel, you need the inner tie rod instead.
