Upper Steering Column Assembly forms the top section of the steering column, between the steering wheel and the lower steering shaft.

It carries the steering wheel on its splined upper end, is supported in the column housing by its bearings, and couples at its lower end to the intermediate shaft and universal joint that drive the steering box.

Wear in the column bearings or in the shaft splines shows up as free play at the rim of the steering wheel and as a rattle from the column over rough ground.
